RDPE Countryside Productivity Scheme Blog
Improving on farm practices using Countryside Productivity Grants
The Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) Countryside Productivity Small Grant Scheme has now opened for the second time, with a total of £15 million available. These grants can provide funding for projects which improve both on-farm productivity and facilitate growth in the rural economy.
The Countryside Productivity Small Grants scheme allows farmers to apply for funding to purchase specific pieces of equipment. Up to 40% of the total equipment cost is available as a grant, more details of this can be found in the schemes hand book here. The handbook also contains comprehensive details about how to apply for this funding. Applications for this funding scheme close on the 3rd September 2019. Although the funding is provided by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, under most conditions the UK government has guaranteed funding once the UK has left the EU until at least 31st December 2020.
The scheme aims to help farmers purchase specific items of equipment to improve technical efficiency, animal health and welfare, resource efficiency, and nutrient management. It is a fantastic opportunity for farmers to invest in precision farming technologies and will help drive a move towards more sustainable farming practices. In the future we hope that Milkalyser will be involved in schemes such as this, in order to give a wider range of farms the opportunity to adopt our revolutionary fertility management system.
